and some family too!
Cabela's (hunting, fishing, camping) have opened in Edmonton. They do not quite have the same stock of taxidermied animals or guns as the shop I saw in the USA on another trip a while back, but still impressive. Had to get a picture of me & the moose, just to show the size of the beast.
Girls got what they looked for in a fabric shop - I found 3 bolts of different Doctor Who cloth. Had to stop on the way to a cinema to see Jurassic World, I had to stop to let a snowshoe hare run through the parking lot ahead of me. Ant-man & Jan-Jan. Then on to West Edmonton Mall... The farm has some of my glass constructs from more than a few years ago.
Went with Fran to a new Vietnamese place for lunch in her area Found another neat car in the same parking lot as the one the other day. Had a wonderful catch-up & campfire with the Bells. New retro-diner in B-ville. Jan's mom.
Cold Lake Marina. Rustic buildings in the Fort Kent area. The swamp/marsh near the old farmstead had muskrats, red-wing blackbirds, yellow-headed blackbirds, swallows, and a variety of waterfowl. Bonnyville, Alberta. Sunny summer prairie day. I PICTURE myself spending a few hours over a couple of days shooting rust, birds and landscapes.
All Edmonton winners!
Vietnamese lunch at south-side Pagolac. The BEST spring rolls IMHO. Is a guy ever too old for a fantasy mid-life crisis car? Cathy, Joyce, and Jan at Thai Orchid for supper. Also in south Edmonton. The Starbucks' mermaid goddess did not shine on me. After the first 2 pics my camera broke, just when I was going to take a selfie with Kevvie. It seemed like it would not turn on for the next shot. When I got to a quiet place I realized that the camera was still turning on, but the LCD monitor was not working, but the other camera functions - like taking pictures - still worked fine. SO, the rest of the pictures are truly point-and-shoot, as I could not view the frame to compose the capture.
Thanks to Dale, Anna, Grace, Nick, Sue, & Pat for a great meal & fun times catching up. rrWell, Valemount-Jasper-Castle Downs. Woke up to crisp/brisk mountain air. Nice day for a drive. Just a pit stop in Jasper and then on to Fran's. Supper at a new rib place close to her, They ran out of Jambalaya, so I subbed a sausage sandwich. Thunderstorms moved in - time to go home & nest.
It is a slow road from Whistler to Pemberton - most of it is posted at 60 km/hr. Pit stop in Lilooet with a visit to the museum at the info center. Lunch in Cache Creek at Hungry? Herbies - a classic diner. Clearwater just got a new shopping center with BiWay Foods.
