Between showers, just a loop around the Breakwater District. Birds. Marine mammals. People. Grooms getting horse ready for carriage. Open door policy at garage #2 revealed hat day for J&M. Goodbye & good riddance 2020!

I wanted to try a new angel pattern, This is it I left the seams on one side solder-silver, but I gave the other side a copper patina.
Here's a thing about copper foil tape & solder technique for putting glass pieces together: If all the seams are parallel the construct has no strength. Adjacent pieces will fold & the structure will collapse. I solved this problem in this design by adding 2 pieces at the bottom. The seams that joins them are horizontal across the vertical seams. Solid, now. Cute, huh?
Finished off a couple of sun-catchers. Found a scrap of blue glass to make the dragonfly more proportional. (Scrap usage for the win!) Also completed another variation on a snowflake theme.
Cormorants were resting on the pilings at the port. There is a new (ish) sign near the breakwater in memorandum of an author I will have to investigate. Tree removal notices & addendum. Balcony inflatables. That first picture - that's not us. Two cookies were custom made by a neighbor to represent our neighbors Margie & Jeff. Good job, I say! Jan & I are a household bubble of 2 (at least until January 8, maybe longer if BC Covid numbers do not decline). We went for a neighborhood walk, and in passing, managed to exchange seasons greetings through an open garage door!
Lots of people were walking on the breakwater & along Dallas Road. Excitements included a huge fog bank across the strait, a swimmer(!), a bunch of police vehicles, and a cluster of folks who I assume were watching a seal fishing close to the sea-wall. We turned inland & there were still to many people to dodge, so we went home. Bubble time. Higher elevations were cooler than us & had more snowfall. I'm sure it will be gone in a day or two, but I can see white patches today. The first pic features our new sewage treatment plant, which I read on the news has started operations. Yay. Been a LONG time coming! Just 2 days before Christmas and while there are some nice decorations in the neighborhood I am more amazed at the variety of plants that are blossoming. The passion-fruit vine was a surprise today. Also, lot of holly tree berries brighten the footpaths. At the boat-ram today: rusty bolts & chains in drift logs; tube worms & spiny urchins also on the logs. Did anyone lose a button? It was cool overnight, but it id warm up to the mid-single-digits by mid-afternoon. It was quite pleasant for an early evening walk downtown. We had to dawdle a bit, but the lege lights came on around 5. |
