Some trees have lost their leaves. Some flowers are not in full bloom. Some clouds give us rain showers. No snow or frozen ground. Temperatures generally between 5 - 10 degrees C. Life is green!

Parked at the city parkade so we could play with the musical back staircase. Cut through Bastion Square to get to The Bay Centre to have anther look at the Festival of Trees. Well, that was exhausting so we went to The Flying Otter for lunch. YUM! Then we waddled across downtown streets to the Parkside Hotel where the "Habitat for Humanities Victoria Gingerbread Showcase" was hosted in the atrium. Korean flavours. Yum! Second visit for Jan & I. First for Fran. Tree menu items shared. All good. I said yum; well, YUM.
Capital Iron, original location. Gotta love it.
Oh, and an eagle on top of a totem pole, just 'cause. Early Christmas morning drive to see what we can see for seasonal lights downtown. The last pic is from nephew Nelson's picture window that evening. A very common activity at this time of year - picking up or dropping off someone at your local airport. This is YYJ (Victoria, BC) arrivals lounge. Love the ad for the gardens!
New glasses were ready for both of us today, so we had business downtown again. Parked at the CRD (city) parkade on Yates Street. Nice to see the musical staircase has been repaired.
Winter ivy on brick building looks spooky. Christmas wreath baskets instead of flowers hang from lampposts. Proof of our Mediterranean-like climate, in that we can grow commercial Kiwi-fruit. For sale at Root-Cellar!
I don't imagine our area will ever compete globally with New Zealand, but I think it is really cool that I can buy locally grown sub-tropical fruit! Jan & her favorite food truck. Cheeseburger-poutine to take away. Took it to Esquimalt Lagoon to eat. (Hmm, must remember to wash our car travel set of cutlery before we need it again!)
Tillicum Mall had their annual ETSY craft market. If we are home at this time of year we always go to see what local makers are making. It was too crowded to talk to any of the stall-holders. Fisherman's Wharf in the off-season. No crowds these days. Grey skies, but not raining on me. A gull was feasting on crab for lunch. Deciduous trees are doing their winter thing, but we still have plenty of greenery AND plenty of flowers to look at!
