See, there is this thing about working with glass - when it does not break where you want it to, the pieces are still available for other uses. Creativity will continue...

This is our first success at getting to Botanical Beach near Port Renfrew. Previous attempts have always been aborted due to inclement local weather (fog, rain, cold, wind) by the time we made the trip from home. Perfect day for it today! A nice, sunny, not too winy day. A good time to drive the scenic route to see if Mount Baker is visible. YUP!
First stop was at Cattle Point. Flowers, Mason bee hive, and spider at Marsh Farms. Pumpkins at Michell's Farms & along Lochside Rd. Finished up at Island View Beach. Reds, oranges & shades of yellow - fall colors are showing up all over town. These pictures are from around the Empress and the Inner Harbour.
This is one of those times I wish I had a laser cutter. I was trying to cut the center out of a square plate, to give me a frame AND a piece of flat textured glass to use elsewhere. This result was not unexpected, but I had to try (just 'cuz).
Walked over to the Breakwater for a free donut & coffee to celebrate the 100th birthday of its existence.
Then we drove to Duncan for the Saturday Market. We HAD to show the visitors the best, and funkiest, store in the city - Capital Iron. The first 3 shots are out of their back windows, and one of them shows the recently arrived span for our upcoming new bridge.
Then the walk on Government Street and Anna's favorite shop - Roberta's Hats. The Irish store featured Guinness souvenirs featuring a toucan logo. I did not know the story of the toucan, so I looked it up. Here: https://drizly.com/guinness-toucan/e-983a0123b5778e14 Friday evening and Dale & I walked to the Breakwater Barge for the last band party of the year. Victoria Caledonian Brewery & Distillery When a friend that has invested in a new distillery/brewery asked me to join a tour I said sure, I'll come and take lots of pictures. It's good that I was also DD for the day. After we finished a Sooke marina boardwalk walk with Dale & Anna we noticed strange activity in the sky - well over a hundred turkey vultures soaring altogether! I've never seen more than a dozen in a day before, and never acting like they were looking for the dead thing in an old western movie. Some things were made so long ago that I have totally forgotten about them - until I see them & go all ""ooh, ooh, I made that!" :)
