This is a BIG THING in our neighborhood! The sewer pipe is almost a kilometer long and has divided James Bay for months. Access to Dallas Road has been diverted and is now totally locked at ST Lawrence Street. A tunnel has been bored under the harbour to Macaulay Point and today is the start of the process of pulling the pipe through the tunnel. Estimates are from 3 to 5 days to complete the process. These views are fro our windows & front doorway.
If I was me, and I am, I would turn around here, as the street is still blocked by the sewer pipe construction.
Agate Park on Cordova Bay, and then Island View Beach Park. Still nicer than most of the rest of Canada at this time of year!
WHEN THE TIME COMES, I want one of these enclosed, all-weather, mobility scooters to hoon up & down the sidewalks. Hehehe.
I heard about a newish eatery & brew-pub in Duncan, so we drove to check it out. Craig Street Brewing company. We have added it to our list of places to repeat!
Back home, the construction cranes are at the soon to be sewage treatment plant, and it looks like a nose-on has been added to the pipe that will be pulled across the harbour. I did a Breakwater walk - pics of a Coast Guard vessel & of a sea urchin. Completely overcast again - with very low clouds across the way. Brightness: meeting local family for lunch. Pictured with me is my grand-nephew, age - 4 months.
I was away for almost all of the construction of this sewage pipeline on the street behind our place, but the completion of this section is imminent. Final welds are being done in preparation of pulling it underwater across the inner harbour to Macaulay Point where the new sewage treatment plant is under construction. Another phase of this project will begin soon - construction of buried pipe from a station at Clover Point, to connect with the Ogden Point end of this pipe. I have been waiting (in vain, apparently) for sunny skies to get nice cheery cherry tree pictures. These will have to do, as, at least it is not raining! |
