A road trip during our road trip! Up Highway 28 to the farm at Bonnyville & Jan's family reunion. I did a lot of testing out the camera on my new tablet until it was my turn to drive Fran's car. There were lots of dragonflies in the yard, and familiar rusting farm equipment. Most of Jan's family is here today to bring her dad to the farm for a visit. Roger is a month shy of 98!
This shopping center parking lot sign really had we wondering until I remembered that I am in Edmonton, and half the year the ground is covered with snow & ice and you cannot see the lines. LOL.
My brother Dennis & me in Calgary.
Happy me eating at Pagolac south in Edmonton. Jan relaxing at her sister Fran's place in Edmonton. Maggie-magpie atop a spruce in St. Albert. We arrived in Calgary yesterday, driving on the fumes of expensive BC gas. So, first order of business was to fill-up on cheap Alberta fuel. The beautiful moth was posing/resting on the gas pump. What a great omen of things to come!
Ohh, ooh, speaking of great big things, check out the burger at 5-Guys. Wow! Other business was tech shopping at Best Buy. I wound up spending my gift cards from Aeroplan points on a new Samsung tablet. My first new one, as in not a hand-me-down from Jan. Feels like what I remember from my youthful used car to first new car experience! In the afternoon, Jennifer gave us a private tour of the Alberta Craft Gallery in her neighborhood. On the road from Pitt Meadows (Vancouver) to Calgary. Route planned to stop on the way out of Kelowna for the BEST cherries! Our favorite little fruit stand has expanded big-time.
Time to get off the rock - seniors travel free Monday thru Thurs. Only paid for car! Stopped for food court lunch at T-Mills shopping centre, where the art is BIG.
Last time, we failed to find a park we remembered from a few years ago. This time, after looking at a map, we succeeded. These are my pictures from Glencoe Cove - Kwatsech Park.
So near, but we seldom make the small effort to go beyond our normal route to explore this area. Rocky urban coastline. Nice little walks. Could have been a few degrees warmer for us.
Another neighborhood stroll. One small cruise ship docked. Striking cloud swirls over the breakwater and across the strait. Remains of a rather large snail. Painted message rock left on a fence. The video reminded me of Minions fire brigade. The ship was doing some alarm testing. Carnival time. Well, one Carnival cruise ship is in port.
And, one of the Victoria Clipper passenger ferries is heading out on its way to Seattle. The old gent, furthest away in this pic, had just gotten severely soaked by a wave - missed the action shot by 'that' much! Flags at the cruise ship terminal. My personal challenge will be to find information on the bottom one. |
