After running some errands that included a Starbucks sidewalk coffee, and a picture of a view of Uptown Mall that always reminds me of the old movie Metropolis, we ventured out to Brentwood Bay. It was a quick tour of Butchart Gardens, as the fog turned into rain.
The Moss Lady is closer to home, at Beacon Hill Park. Right; the first pic is the metal T-rex at Capital Iron, West Shore.
Ducks & gulls at Esquimalt lagoon - the boat was pulling up crab traps. Beacon Hill Park is home o about 30 peacocks, now including one white one! Interesting concept: convert 2 on-street parking spaces into pedestrian social seating. We will come back in the summer, when it is warmer & drier to assess the 'vibe'.
Making way for progress, two old (heritage?) houses are being relocated to make way for a huge 'improvement' to a downtown area. The new location is only a couple of block from our home. The new place is only about 6 blocks from their former site, but they took a very long, complex route to get here. The trucks with loaded houses went about 2 km in the opposite direction and were loaded onto a barge! The following day, at high tide, the barge came out from the harbour and tied up at the sea wall close to the breakwater to unload. One house was already in place on the corner lot when I arrived. The pictures tell the rest of the story. I carried on to do a breakwater walk out to the lighthouse.
We had lunch out at Sassy's. The chicken stew had dumplings that were spiced like stuffing. Good. After lunch we went across the street to the Victoria Butterfly Garden. This is winter here. Daytime temperatures in the plus 5 to 10 range. If it is not raining and the clouds are not too low, we can see snow on the mountains around us.
Another full day, including a couple of forced shut-downs, but I have finally upgraded to Windows 10 successfully on my stay-at-home PC. (silent fist pump!)
Cool (around 5 degrees C). Cloudy. Showers or drizzle. Occasional glimpses of brightness (could be the sun) give false hope. That has been my weather for weeks. On the somewhat lighter side, it makes it easy to want to stay in & rest up & try to get over sinus & lung infections.
lI don't feel up to getting dressed in layers to go out walking and photographing, but I can still appreciate a colorful sunset. This one was shot through glass & shell mobiles, the closed bedroom balcony door and magic screen, and trees full of bare branches.
