Also, 2 big trees are down. Crews still have a bunch of cleaning up to do. Those stumps are HUGE!
It is our turn to get our sun-room/balcony turned into a real room. Demolition proceeded nicely. The guys got the windows out and removed the stucco half-walls to assess the weather damage. Only one rotten corner post and no floor damage - it could have been a lot worse! Also, 2 big trees are down. Crews still have a bunch of cleaning up to do. Those stumps are HUGE!

Two huge old trees on the corner f our block were removed this week. It was a massive operation and required a huge crane to remove sections safely. Mr Squirrel & I were out at the same time today to check on the progress of the arborists.
A wee drive up the Saanich Peninsula, to Marsh Farm for golden raspberries, cukes & beets. Hearty lunch at RnR. Pine cone stop up by Panorama & a stop at Island View Provincial Park. Exhausting! (But I say that about everything. :) )
Lunched at My Chosen in Metchosen with Katy, then stopped for short view from Albert Head Lagoon beach. It was a Baker view kind of day!
Afternoon walk out to the lighthouse. Bull kelp was looking good today. Alright, so I don't go out for pre-dawn/dawn walks here, but I am still up at that time of day. Today, the rising sun was at just the right angle to shine off a neighboring window through my glass art.
A squirrel & I surprised each other as I left the house for my walk today. It froze, so I pulled t the camera.
Some classic rustat Ogden Point piers. The renovations goes on & on to two old houses moved from Michigan Street to Dallas Road across from the breakwater. Remnants of a grass fire along the Dallas Road cliffs. A reminder that tomorrow is Victoria's big bike race. The route goes past our place & everywhere we might need to go to get anywhere, so we will likely stay home until the event closes in the mid-afternoon. I just went for a little walk out to the breakwater lighthouse today. It is not usual to see so many small craft in the waters between here & Royal Bay, so I reckon there must be some sort of fishing derby going on.
Continental breakfast was included in our Riverside motel stay. Close to the bridge & the highways & views of the riverside.
Clear day or the ferry crossing. Rough ride in the open water, but perfect once inside the islands. 'Twas a good Baker view day! Got home to our new windows that had arrived a few hours before us. Not a fun drive as I had picked up summer allergy-cold in B-ville, but we were up early & packed & ready to leave Fran's before the local Starbucks opened. So, we were ready for a brekkie biscuit sandwich at Tmmie's in Edson.
Rust at rest stops & gas stations. Lots of Rocky Mountain sheep along the highway through Jasper National Park this time. Also, for a change, clear views of Mount Robson! Valemount for lunch - crossed the tracks to find the Swiss Bakery. On to Kamloops for an indigenous super meal, and an early bedtime at a very nice riverside motel. More birding within a km of the farm. Insects, rust, & a 96th birthday celebration. Shots out the window between Smoky Lake & Edmonton.
