Some pictures of the Victoria & Vancouver airports before our long (14 hour) flight to Brisbane Australia. Time for me to switch over to my OzAgain site! ozagain.weebly.com/

Up early (naturally) and taking pictures of a truly magnificent sky before I walked to the corner & realized I was not alone. Cruise ship passengers were seeing the sun rise over Victoria from an angle I never get to see. :)
The crew (thank you Mike & Pat!) finished up what they could, both inside & out on the last day before we fly south. We feel secure that our new room will not leak, and they will finish the outside work next week. All is good. And Jan will have fun using her artistic talents to finish the interior design in Dec. (and January?) Nothing to eat left in the house, so we totally enjoyed a large nacho plate at James Bay Inn! Renovation progress: the guys continue indoor work and Jan & I are still scouting for boards to finish the outside.
Up early again to move the car make room for the work crew. Nice tinge to the western sky.
I had thought there must be a fishing derby going on as there were a lot of small craft out beyond the breakwater on the weekend. I was right - it was the local salmon derby. Interior work continues - taping & mudding by Pat & Mike: Primer painting trim boards by Jan & me. We also went shopping for outside trim boards and found out there is a local shortage of kiln-dried 1x12 pine boards. Oh, and I started packing for OZ - we leave in a few days! The development of the sub-division might be stalled, but this new, part-time, temporary beach access park shows some real community spirit.
Shopping at Slegg lumber & building supplies is a totally Vancouver Island thing to do. Great little company with 4 locations within range of us and our renovation project. It was our go-to place when Jan was selecting a floor doorway transition board. I was super impressed with the sick fixture in the men's room - touchless water flow, OK, but 2 side hand dry air vents -WOW!
Of course, shopping up the Saanich Peninsula is not complete without lunch at on of our faves. This time it was the Prairie Inn. Fogie foam party, renovation style. Jan & I got to play with expanding foam to insulate the cracks in the framing & new window installation. Boy did it expand! Fortunately, it trimmed away nicely with a fresh utility knife blade.
This was a huge day in our sun-room renovation the day we used the extend-a-lift to hoist the windows into the Job. I see now that I was too involved in the process to have taken any pictures of the process. Huge thanks to our Guys (Pat & Mike), & even huger thanks to helpful hands of our neighbors. We have windows in place!! When I went to move the car into the garage I noticed our squirrel doing his best LBB (Little Brown Bird) imitation. |
