Strange to see one of these big birds so far from their home in Beacon Hill Park. My theory is that there are so many " freedom campers/homeless people" with tents set up in the park that the birds feel threatened and are exploring options for relocating!
Our question this evening is: why did the peafowl cross the neighborhood? Strange to see one of these big birds so far from their home in Beacon Hill Park. My theory is that there are so many " freedom campers/homeless people" with tents set up in the park that the birds feel threatened and are exploring options for relocating!

It's not a bird, it's a plane! A noisy, big-old, grey, prop-jobbie!
It did 3 low level circuits. Herc, I think. We don't get a lot of big planes around here at the moment. Helicopters & seaplanes are active, nut not t pre-pandemic levels. Progress to completion of the broken glass fan lampshade piece. Done & dusted. Er, what? No! Done, washed & dried. Then put in storage once more, until the next time I stumble across its lamp base.
More progress on the sea-wall section of the Dallas Road project. Pics of some neighbor's houses & yards that I have not previously posed. I managed to separate the 3 damaged pieces, and have selected glass to make the replacements. Little steps. Don't want to make too much progress too quickly.
;) :) Nice moments watching 3 river otters mingling on a local boat dock. Bonus six small video clips. Low tide & smooth water at the breakwater. Further adventures in de-constructing a broken stained glass fan. For my Saturday stay-home amusement, I started un-soldering lines to remove broken glass pieces from this fan-lamp shade. (Just putzing in my man-cave. ;) Struth!)
I walked around the cruise ship terminal parking lotto see how many people were on the breakwater now that the barricade fences have been removed. What I saw on the way there was a family of Canada geese by Terminal A. The little goslings make me think of Tribbles with feathers!
Pedestrian traffic on the breakwater was light, so I walked out to the lighthouse. Everyone I encountered was well behaved, and trying to be as separated as possible. (hmmm, my Monty Python mind whirls to imagine skits combining CoVid-separatists and last century's Quebecois separatists. ;) ) Back to reality - The Breakwater Bistro is open again, too! Saturday again. James Bay Farmers' Market again. Time to buy more tamales & fresh tomatoes. More, different pictures of flowers along the walk through my neighborhood.
Scourge! That's what I call it, whether it is Scotch broom, gorse, or any other pollen spewing shrubbery with yellow flowers. I have allergies to most pollen, regardless of the kind of plant it comes from. My symptoms include itchy/burning/weeping eyes, runny nose & occasional sneezes. Hmm, in this coVid pandemic era, is it any wonder that I am very cautious when I go out in public? Or why I take lots of antihistamines when I do?
Anyway, my walk today was just around the Breakwater District again. Not a real cruise ship behind me in the selfie, just a photo on an electrical service box. Oh, I've added a little squeeze bottle of hand sanitizer to my utility belt. Interesting cloud formation over terminal A. More pigeon guillemots. Breakwater Bistro, Tasting Room. Kraken food trucks, and the breakwater walkway are all still closed. Woo-hoo. That was my big birthday outing! |
