On to Nanoose Bay to se a property that friends are negotiating to purchase.
Burger for lunch was at Lefty's in Parksville.
Rain most of the way home, but the car was in the garage before dark! :)

Planned breakfast stop at the Ladysmith Old Town Bakery. Surprised to see first nation influenced gingerbread house/Christmas display. Happy to see it. We were expecting film crews for an American Sci-fi show being filmed here, and were glad there were not too many of them ahead of us in the pastry line-up!

Thank you, La Belle Patat! Good, as always.
Coming down Quadra Street from downtown, jan snapped this pick from her phone out the window. As usual, taking the slow/scenic way home from running errands. Pulled into Saxe Point Park for a pleasant little walk.
Closer to home, the ship that brought our new ferries has gone, but another marine vessel hauler was unloading a 2-mast sailboat, as coast guard/border patrol watched from a zodiac. Not kidding.
From my balcony, through the bare branches, tug boats maneuver one of two new ferries past Ogden Point on the way to Point Hope Marine shipyards for final prep before joining the fleet. In the left background, the other newbie is off-loading from its mother-ship that transported them from Europe. The 'World's Tallest Totem Pole' is a frequent vantage point for our bald eagles to survey the surrounds. Well, I stayed home when there was lots of snow, 'cause that's the sensible thing to do, but there is still a little bit of cold white stuff on the ground in shady places. With hardy flowers still in bloom! And very few people - not a tour bus in sight. I know, because we parked in the bus parking lot! It was very pleasant to walk around at 8 or 9 degrees! Two indoor things are also happening at this time of year. 'Prelude to Spring' has daffodils, tulips, and orchids. Also, the historical displays - 4 rooms are open! BC Ferries purchased two hybrid-electric ferries for the fleet. They were built in Romania, and transported here by a semi-submersible cargo ship. When the time comes to unload, the Sunrise will fill its bilges with water to lower its deck to allow the ferries to float off the sides! I hope I get to see that event!
Still bits of snow piled in places, but it is melting nicely. We stayed in yesterday and today except to shovel snow. Local social media are calling it Snowmageddon, or those that include the gale force wins call in Stormageddon!
It was snowing in Ogden Point today! Oops, excuse me - The Breakwater District! We swept the walks, and then walked as far as the breakwater. Our postal delvery person is still in cargo shorts! One hummingbird has staked out territory on our balcony, under the feeder & is actively discouraging others from feeding.
In the morning there were cherry blossoms on trees, and lots of greenery. In the afternoon there was sunshine through stained glass butterfly wings.
In the evening there was snow falling and wind blowing. By night, our world was white! |
