Back home, much later, I heard a woodpecker close-by & discovered it making a major hole in a neighbor's townhouse siding.
Short bike ride - just to Beacon Hill Park.

The tourists have gone, the tourists have gone! The skies have cleared. Most excellent conditions for a visit to Royal Roads!

We managed to do the Butchart Gardens AND Victoria Butterfly Gardens this morning and still make it to R&R Diner in Saanichton early enough to beat the lunch rush. First time since January that I have had my favorite - Rick' Gourmet Burger! Love the blue cheese tang.
Leaving the diner, we noticed that Mount Baker was was in fine form, so we went home via Cattle Point to take some shots. At the entrance to Willows Beach I noticed a new stone carving, so I stopped to investigate. Evening came. Some sunset colors & an almost full moon. Good day! & good night! Frugal fogies making good use of our annual passes! Masks are not mandatory, yet, but they will be starting on Oct 01. It was a very nice early morning walk. Lots of work ongoing to change beds from Summer to Fall. * Not really free, but it seems like free admission every time we use our annual passes to Victoria Butterfly Gardens & Insectorium! Always something new amongst the wonderfully familiar. Hazy rainbow from the balcony this morning. Evening sunset & moonrise from across the street. Always looking for aesthetic compositions & interesting juxtapositions. ;) Looks like rock blasting is on-going across the street from Langford Costco. Currently, the sidewalk, curbs & road entrance run straight into a solid rock wall!
Forced social distancing - public urinal style. The Dallas Road project close to home is progressing nicely. The sea-wall balustrade as been replaced with had-rails of the same type as were installed on the breakwater. The shared sidewalk/footpath/bike pah is open all the way. YAY! Regular maintenance for our wheels leaves us downtown for a couple of hours afoot.
Fort Street community gardens. Trees building mural. 2fer Tim Horton brekkie wraps taken to a Broad Street picnic table for an undisturbed meal out. Cruise through Chinatown and Dragon Alley. Down to the dock by Canoe (eatery). Up to the old Market Square & LoJo. Through The Bay Centre - the set-up & signage for social spacing is excellent - but there are still a lot of jerks that ignore all decency. Still lots of smoke in the air today as we drove up to Nanoose Bay & on to Qualicum Beach. 'Twas good to re-connect with friends & do some introductions.
