End of January already! Time still flies, even when you are going nowhere!

Twas a bit misty for the family morning walkies. Not included in the walk was a mid morning drive to a nice, cinnamony bakery. Yum.
A fine & fancy feast for lunch at Barb & JJs. Thank you, thank you. And later, my first robot server experience, compliments of brother Ed & Chinese take-out! Thank you, thank you. Sending love to all who feed me! :) There was a bit of fog on the morning walk today. Not enough to activate the fog horn, but the honking geese were heard well before seen. Glorious sunrise over Clover Point. Later, at Saxe Point Park we w an early iris and some well developed magnolia buds. First trip over the Malahat since before the November weather disaster road closures & restrictions. We were the first customers of the day at the Malahat Tower. Very windy! Hold on to your hat as you walk around the seaward side kind of the ramp kind of windy. Amazingly, The top level was calm by comparison. Nice to be able to use our passes once for this month.
Golden sunrise & yellow chairs on Dallas Road. Calm waters inside the breakwater and in the strait as well. Red holly berries. Ooh, ooh, a sure sign of Spring here is the appearance of snowdrops, and I have seen them in a few places! Something I have not seen anywhere else is the pair of (used) potty-planters in a boulevard. A very nice mermaid painting on a utility pole, near what could be a Halloween House. And, finally, a big old eucalyptus tree I have not noted previously.
An impromptu art installation addition to a chain link fence by a local bus shelter adds some colour to the pre-dawn morning. Diesel smoke thrums out of the container ship that has blocked our view for a few weeks. That, plus a couple of huge, nonresident tug-boats has me wondering if repairs are complete and the vessel could soon be on its way. Our morning walk continued on to Beacon Hill Park, to where we observed about 30 peafowl scrubbing through the snow piles in the parking lot. |
