Sunrise had potential, but the lighting was dull for pictures.

Pre-Christmas trip to Nanaimo, Parksville Beach, & Qualicum Beach. Street decorations, feral bunnies, native cottontail, parks with lots of stairs. Snow geese, sandpiper murmurations, swans in flight, bald eagles near a dump. Chasing the full moon setting. Rising sun provided interesting hues.
Drove out to Cowichan Bay to check on sea-lions. Not a lot to see today. Almost fully overcast, but the sun sneaked through a small gap on the horizon. Great Blue Heron in flight, and roosting peacocks. Cool sunrise on the breakwater. Still frost on the ground as we made it to Fisherman's Wharf float-home docks. This is not the first year I have walked downtown to see the ship light-up ceremony. It is the first time I have ever captured an image of the full moon AND two planets in the same frame! Nice sunrise. Lots of birds on the water. Found out the reason that the Carnival Panoramic has been docked here so long is that its funnel will be removed so that the ship can pass under a bridge to get to a shipyard in Oregon for repairs. Apparently the word is out about the super burger deals at QF on $% Fridays. We were behind some tradies that ordered several dozen to take away. This does not bode well! |
