I have added month end stats to my usual step count & map.
Sporadic gust whipped salt spray onto us as we went on our walk to the lighthouse. No-one was parked in front of the building murals at our industrial park grocery warehouse. I have added month end stats to my usual step count & map.

Otters being otters. I'm not sure what they were feeding on, but for a change they seemed alright with sharing. Harbour seals were behaving strangely, staying very close to the blocks of the breakwater. We suspect they were trying not to be noticed by some unseen predator in the area. That usually means Orca, but we could not see any sign of them. A hummingbird was displaying nicely. Perhaps it is Spring around here!?! This month we have had record low temperatures, snow events, and now record high temperatures. It was so nice today that I hand washed the car!
We almost didn't get out of the house in time for sunup today. Fortunately, the colours lasted a good, long time.
Later, after driving to Cattle Point, we got a pretty good view of most of Mount Baker behind a cargo ship, and the Olympic range behind the municipality of Oak Bay. Sunrise and patchy fog is much more photogenic than a wide-spread thick fog of the pea-soup variety. Sometimes eerie, sometimes brilliant it was constantly changing interestingly. Drift-logs are a shipping hazard. One of our pilots shows how to get them out of inside the breakwater! It has been rainy & the ground must be saturated, as there were earthworms all over the pathways. Cottontail bunny. Spring crocuses! Early morning walk. No spectacular sunrise colours. No exciting animal encounters. Just step counters!
In this case the far side is the other side of the inner harbour than usual. To get there we went up Government to Chaham, and then don past the new Janion re-buildings and across the new bridge. Bird-life included heron cormorants, mergansers, and a very vocal purple finch (according to a G. image search). We walked the water's edge to Cook Street Village. Empire Donuts were open! Go figure? Walked through Beacon Hill Park & got home with all sweets unsampled.
