Yup, cold. Not prairie cold, not northern Canada cold, but cold. Victoria, BC cold! Alright, it is still only single digits below zero C, but outdoor fountains are freezing & so are water pipes in exterior walls (STOOPID!) Anyway, we weathered the weather & had a noice walk. Different colour palettes for today's pictures with snow on the walks & reflections on the water. Crazy swimmers are still doing their thing.
Out well before sunup to catch the building & yard lights in the dark. We know it is cold in Victoria, BC when the fountains start to freeze.
We were up to a skiff of snow on Christmas morning. Rugged up for a walk before the community at large was up & about. And, yes, there are still lots of flowers around out pretty little city! And all along the breakwater the creatures (mostly birds) were stirring. Lots of sky-colour this AM.
Dawn walk by the water, & through the neighbourhood looking at yard decorations.
At home, some gnomes see the light of day, and (a really rare find in a local grocery store) I tuck into a jar of Smucker's Goober! Peanut butter & jam in the same jar, just in case one did not know. Near the start of our breakwater walk we saw a GB Heron floating on a raft of kelp in which a harbour seal was snoozing. It was still too dark for me to get a good pic - just adequate as proof. Sunrise dazzled - a bonus as we expected a totally overcast dawn. And then there was a rainbow. Bonus! But wait - there's more. A double rainbow existed, just for us, just for a little while. Later, back hone in the glass shop, 4 more gnomes made themselves - as a Christmas bonus to each other! |
